Counselors In Training CIT

Ages 14.516

Our program for CITs provides an excellent training ground for teens who are interested in taking on more responsibility, earning SSL hours, and getting valuable work experience, in addition to making new friends and enjoying summer fun.

CITs are under the direction and guidance of a Program Director who meets with them throughout the week to assist them in their training process. The Director will instruct them on their duties, the requirements of their role as assistants to camp staff, and “debrief” with them to assess their job performance and resolve any challenges in their work. This program is highly recommended for young adults who are considering working at a youth camp.

Applicants for this program must submit a brief essay stating why they would like to get experience at Butler Camp as a Counselor In Training, and mention the activity area where they would most like to focus their time. CIT's will be able to earn a minimum of 20 SSL hours per session. Spaces are limited, so apply early!

CIT will follow daily schedules of groups that they will be working with throughout the session. This might include leading a hike, creating an arts and crafts lesson plan, or helping with the zipline.

The primary goal for the CIT program is to provide strong leadership and training which gives CITs the opportunity to become future counselors or excel in other workforce environments.
