This is my third summer as Butler Camp Director

I moved to the Maryland area from the Gulf Coast of Florida. I began working with youth camps at the YMCA as a counselor over a decade ago. I then became the program director and eventually oversaw all recreational programs for the organization.

I have coached soccer, basketball, and football for over a decade now and love mentoring new kids.

In my spare time, I am playing/watching sports, listening to music, reading, or trying to learn a new skill. 

This will be my fourth summer working at Butler Camp. During the summers, I have served on the admin team as the Outdoor Coordinator, putting on cookouts, overnights, archery lessons, and wilderness skills lessons. I love creating fun outdoors and passing on all sorts of skills and knowledge that the children can carry with them into the rest of their lives. I have worked with children for almost 15 years as a caregiver, camp counselor, environmental educator, and teacher. I am so excited to bring all of my experience to the Assistant Director position this summer

Hobbies outside of camp: I have many hobbies. I enjoy hiking, backpacking, snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, woodworking, cooking, and many different forms of art

Hi! My name is Aliyah. I have been working with kids for a little over four years, and this is my third summer as a counselor at Butler Camp. I can’t wait! I am a rising freshman at Virginia Tech, studying aerospace engineering. I am so excited to make new memories this summer, especially playing pool games and making crafts!

Hobbies outside of camp: I love running, playing pickleball, hiking, and hanging out with friends. During the school year, I work as an assistant teacher at Georgetown Hill Early School!

Favorite camp activity/game: I love taking hikes around campus, especially to the waterfall!

Hi, I am Anika. I am a rising junior at Northwest High School in the Ulysses Program. I was a CIT last year and this is my first year as a counselor at Butler Camp. I love working with kids and I am looking forward to being a counselor at Butler Camp.

My name is Cesar, and I’m a student at Northwest High School (class of 2028). I am an alumnus of Butler Montessori, and this is my first time as a counselor at Butler Camp. I am really excited to meet the campers and work with my team.

Hi, my name is Claire. I go to Thomas Wootton high school as a rising senior. I am an art room counselor here at Butler Camp! I was a camper here for over 10 years, and now I’m in my second year being a counselor.

This will be my 9th summer working here at Butler Camp. I have done every job that can be thought of here. I love this place, I went to school here and now I am an Assistant here in the YCC (Young Children's Community). This summer I'm leaving the office and going back to be a lead on the Ropes Course, it should be fun!

It's my first year as a counselor at Butler Camp, and I'm super excited to spend the summer outdoors with you all!! I'm a cat lover, soccer player (goalie), and songwriter. Currently, I'm at Towson University studying to be a pediatric nurse because I love working with kids.

Hello! My name is Hailey, and I am the office manager for Butler Camp 2026. I just graduated from University of Maryland with a major in elementary education. This is my eighth summer working at Butler Camp and I am so excited to see returning campers and meet new ones. I am most excited for cookouts and playing Gaga Ball!

Hi! My name is Imani, and I’m a rising freshman at the University of Southern California studying Human Biology on a pre-med track. I went to Butler Montessori for 8 years before I became a counselor 3 years ago, so it feels like my second home. I can’t wait to spend another summer with new and returning campers!

Hi, my name is Melannie. I am a current Senior at the University of Maryland studying elementary education. I am graduating this spring semester (2026). I have a younger sister and an older brother, but out of the three of us, I'm probably the one who enjoys nature and being outside the most. This is my first time working with Bulter Camp, and I am very excited to get started this summer. Though this may be my first time in Bulter Camp, I have many years of experience working with children through a variety of volunteer and internship roles.

I’ve been with Butler Montessori for 2 years, and I work with both the school and camp. I love being outdoors, smelling the flowers, and stumbling upon a random insect or animal. I usually spend my time at home with my pets (2 cats & 1 dog) or outside traveling to a new spot, whether near or far.
